Following the japanese tradition inspired by master Konishi Heinaki “Raku” means “satisfaction, joy, liberation”. Inspired by the ancient oriental tradition of XVI century, in which the determining factor are earth, fire, water, and utilizing an innovative industrial procedure, Ceramica Cir reproduced the aesthetic effect of “Raku” on
10x10 ceramic tiles.
“Raku” technique
Several objects are cooket at 900° temperature and they are taken out of the kiln when the glaze reach its melting point. They are introduced in small containers filled with leaves, herbs, sawdust, rags soaked with oil and hermetically closed in. At this point all the above mentioned elements are involved in a combustion inside
the small containers, which create a “reducing atmosphere”, able to produce special effects on the glazes surface. In order to interrupt this procedure these objects are dipped again in cold water.
